[Frank Marino]
"Cinewave, while also getting high marks, is another Pinnacle product, so if what people say is true about Chrome, then it must apply to Cinewave as well. "
Not necessarily. Pinnacle is a pretty big company, and as you can imagine, they do have different departaments & teams working on different products. Chrome comes from Targa3k+Fast roots, whereas Cinewave seems to have got a special team that develops it separately. And since Cinewave is (and was) a very succesful product on the Mac platform, Pinnacle seems to hold it very close to their hearts in terms of development resources, at least for the moment. Whether this will be so in the future as well, it's anybody's guess. Probably a factor will be the market succes of Io, Kona and Decklink HD, but for the moment, Pinnacle seems to be very much behind Cinewave.

"DPS seems good but then as I mentioned earlier, there is this Emmy award winning broadcast editor I know who will not go near the former Velocity even though the station bought one. He says everything about it is counter intuitive and he gets frustrated working with it."
You should try to get your hands on the/a system and try it out for yourself. VelocityQ is
far
from counter-intuitive, even for people used to Avid or edit. It could be better, granted, but it's a great cutting platform nonetheless.
Cheers,
Andrei
