Morgan try the DVCPRO 50 or 8-bit UC codec. Your captured footage should look great with either of them. 10-bit is not needed in most cases. Examples of a couple exceptions would be keying, for improved titling/graphics, or if you see banding in the gradients. I believe there are still some render issues with DV50 so it you're going to be adding effects and things and need to do multiple renders, you may want to work with 8-bit uncompressed instead.

Checkout Marco's excellent codec comparison on his website: http://www.onerivermedia.com/codecs/index.htm and just plain try capturing the same clip to all three codec's and compare the difference. Then add some titles, soft transitions, animations, etc and see what think.
