Oh Tony - you have basically told this guy that his HUGE is causing the mystery problems. Is that the right thing to do.

As you suggested (and as I am sure that he has not done) - repair permissions, trash the preferences (does he know where to find them), run a Cache cleaner like Mac Janitor or Cache Out X, update the ATTO drivers.

Don't throw HUGE under the bus.
