Thanks Philip. Making the specific fades I wanted a Motion favorite did the trick for being able to repeat them quickly. It didn't solve the problem of making the whole title the length I wanted, though. Then I realized the default length in the Viewer window was set at 10 seconds - I guess it is this default length I would like to be able to change (User Prefs>Editing>Still/Freeze duration doesn't do it). But it's pretty easy just to change the length of the timecode in the upper left corner of the Viewer window before I drag it down to the timeline, then apply my Favorite Motion (Control-Shift-5) to set my exact fade lenghts. Saves me a lot of tedium - Thanks again Philip (as always!).
