Use Adobe Illustrator to open the *.ai file you saved (the path from Photoshop).

As it opens it looks as thought there’s nothing on the canvas, but there is. Press Command-Y (Mac) or Control-Y (Win) to toggle from Preview mode to Outline mode. The path is now a visible vector outline. Use the hollow arrow tool to select it and fill it with the color swatches in the toolkit. You will be able to see the fill only after you toggle back to Preview mode (CMD-Y/CTRL-Y).

One more step before you can save the file. Photoshop automatically adds crop marks to the file, and these will extrude with the rest of the logo - not what you likely want. Get rid of them before saving by selecting Object | Crop Marks | Release. Now you can save this file as an Illustrator document. Use the settings for version 8 for best results.
