There always has to be one button highlighted on any DVD menu at any given time. It comes down to logic- if no button is highlighted, how do you specify what happens when the user presses the arrows or enter button on the remote?

When you choose "none" for which button you want highlighted, you're telling Encore that it should just choose the default button to highlight.

If you really don't want a button to be highlighted, you can create an invisible button (a button that doesn't have any content- create a new button and then delete all of it's layers in the Layers palette) and set that as your default button. However, some users may get confused by this setup. They may be expecting a button to be highlighted so they know what's going to happen when they start pressing buttons on the remote.
