The "UNKNOWN DVD" label comes from (I believe) Windows Media Player's ability to ID discs through the internet, much like the CDDB for audio CDs. If the disc isn't commercially produced, then there likely won't be an entry to pull up anyway. Also, if your computer isn't connected to the internet when you put the disc in for the first time, WMP can't query whatever servers it uses to find the disc name. Regardless, it's nothing to worry about.
