access to the DVD scripting language

Hi all
My colleague seems to be doing strange and wondrous things via scripting, such as track user events and keep "score". He is working his way through and doing this in DVD SP v2.0. I am concurrently working my way through Encore. So far, I've not found the equivalent to the scripting that he seems to have in that other app. My suspicion is that this "access" to the DVD scripting language is missing in this verison of Encore. Or....am I missing it (hopefully) and someone can show me the way to the land of "variables and looping"?
