Dissapearing Highlights in menu?

Hi all..

i am having some slight probs with the Adobe Encore tryout, i will try and explain the probs as best as i can..
the problem starts after i have either resized from 4:3 to the 16:9 format or deleted unwanted buttons ( i only need a PLAY or Scene selections buttons), so i space the buttons on the menu to suit.
However when i do this and then go to "Preview" or "Preview from here" the highlight is nowhere to be seen (although it shows up on the menu when i have clicked the show highlights button on the menu along with the safe areas.
Also when i am doing a preview and move the mouse over the appropriate buttons the cursor changes to the hand symbol when it is placed a fair bit above the button Text, but no highlight is showing.
Hope i have made some kinda sense here...
