Not Enough space on Disk

I am trying to record VHS home movies to DVD. I can succesfully capture the image using Win PVR. I can successfully edit the file using DVD Workshop 2 and can record successfully for a small file (2.7 GB). I am currently struggling with a longer film. I have edited it down to 4.3 GB and the bar indicator shows I am below the 4.4GB limit. It lets me record but after the entire process (~1 hour) it informs me that the disk is full and to insert another disk or cancel. The tranfer was not successful.
Can anyone help me with this? Do I have to leave even more footage on the cutting floor?
