1. If you are telling me the Pinnacle Cinewave HD solution does realtime FX, I extend my apologies, because I have never seen the Cinewave do RTHD. I have seen it do RTSD, but never HD.
2. Leaders like Leo, who are attacking participants work need to step back. I didn't ask for his opinion, I don't need his opinion, and his veiled insult was not called for.
3. Mr. Charniack's suggestion, even in fun that I am not proud of my work, nor capable of producing products was also uncalled for. I've been in this industry since the mid 70's, have sold 100,000 of copies of my work to companies like Home Depot, JVC, B&H and others. I have TV commercials running on air on average every 20 minutes for the past 3 years. Mr. Charniack - I can do, but I can also teach and support others. Too bad the High end crowd can't.
4. The JVC solution: Camera:$3K, DecklinkHD: $2K (I opted for a Kona card instead), A-D SDI Converter: $2.5K - The package is less than 10K and would allow our original poster an opportunity to shoot and edit(on a mac) a low budget film that would be better than straight DV. The package is no where near the price of A varicam Package. $60K for the Camera, $10-20K(min) for the glass, and I think the cheapest Deck is still $40K or better. Add to that the Decklink card, and now we're at $112K minimum.
If he chose to edit with Aspect HD or Ulead, he could do away with the card, and use a low price PC and software that would not set him back more than a few thousand. Both packages offer multiple streams in RT. His goal - producing a low cost film in the best quality he could afford would be achieved for a lot less than $10K.
You guys think of yourselves as the high end crowd(Charniack's term, not mine). I have proposed to the Lindbooms the COW needs it's own HDV forum because you guys are not willing to work towards the development of this new affordable HD and support even the concept. I've been turned down, and I guess I'll withdraw the idea. You guys are too open to new ideas for me.
As to thanking me for participating, you need not. I've been called everything in the book tonight by the so called high end crowd, and frankly, I'd rather not join you again.
I'm finished. Bash away
DBK
