Paul,

As regards the slo-mo, in order to get the effect you want the best thing to do again, is test. If you want to slow the motion 50%, maybe 36 fps is what you want (not 60!).

And as far as shutter speed, it all depends how much blur you want, the more blur the more open the shutter. At 60 fps and 180 degree shutter the effect is 1/120th of a second but perhaps a shutter speed of at 1/60 would be better? If it were a sports shot that you wanted to show the detailed breakdown of the action when slowed down, the short shutter speed and sharper frames might be preferred, but if it's more stylized (mysterious or fantasized) then the blurriness of slower shutter speed might be your choice. Build the speed and shutter options into your tests and take all the way through the FCP frame rate conversion and view on a large screen to determine your ultimate choices! You should also look at the un-frame rate converted option of the "slow" frame rates of 4-12 fps; these create a great "blurry" effect.
