Rodrigo Lizanadetail and V. DTL freq

Hello everybody : Want to clear my mind about detail and V. DTL freq and all the other details of the Varicam. How they affect the SD downconversion and the filmout process. As i understand detail should be OFF fot filmout and ON for SD distribution. If so why some settings as V. DTL freq at 630TV and other at 720TV ?
Need a detail guru !!
