Andy ,

regarding the greed factor I HEAR YOU... We provide the front end rental for most of the gigs we do content for, but it's just too expensive to keep up with projector evolution and depreciation (we tried, but the economics got staggering)... So now we just own a couple of middle of the road LCD's just in case...

But what we've done to fill that role is two fold. We've entered a realtionship with a lighting rental house who are willing to buy the projectors if we guarentee our bundling of the light package, or, in cases where we aren't also doing the lighting, we've got a GREAT relationship with Midco AV in Minneapolis (they've been great in giving us good rates, and we've in return turned them on to some multi-month theatrical touring rentals that they dig...

So we overcome greed with relationships for ultimate delivery.., On the other side of that fence, we provide the decks, switching, show control, and camera rental, because thats where the real dough is for us. So in a sense we particpate in the greed, by grabbing our own chunk. The added benefit of course is that we control signal path and quality thereby...

The powerpoint point is a conondrum for me... I can understand totally why powerpoint occupies this ground in the corporate world especially, and I guess there not much getting around that when it comes to scaling or format conversion...

I guess it depends (in corporate video) on the discernment, relationship, and willingness of the Client. Leo has shed light on situations he has where HD acquisition has turned out to be a nominal client cost, yet the quality and reaction to that quality when it comes time for delivered project has made it worth it.

I think the ultimate end to the HD argument will make itself apparent when most of the corporate talking head types who either appear in the video or stand onstage pointing at the video have 'hidef' TVs in their own house... consumer expectations raised will = professional expectations raised.

I understand all of your points though Andy, thanks for bringing your perspective to it...
